Teachers’ individual internet WebPages as productive means of teaching

I am a teacher. I like both literature and grammar. I like classic and jazz music. My favourite film is “Devil’s Advocate”.

It is a vestige of the past to think that the teachers’ knowledge is absolute and complete. The Internet always and relentless shows how much things are unknown for us. The present day teachers get good results more by their personal example then obliging students to do any activity. But the so called “student centric” education presupposes the interactive relations with students. Both students and teachers are in regular activities. To have the internet personal page is the way to exemplify creative work, to coordinate personal work, to concretize preferences, to make a choice.

We must remember that even very busy teachers require coordinating and storing their work. As a rule, this work serves for next years to work with students of the same grade, also for colleagues and other students. In this respect personal blogs are good storehouses. For example, teachers of mathematics can store their used, improved and tested lessons, teachers of native language can store and use useful book links, own creations, learning aids etc.
The blog is also the field of self-expression. It’s a website page, which is available for teachers, students, parents and society and where teachers can present themselves. If there are questions, one can ask, talk and chat with teachers directly through the internet. After such kind of acquaintance parents and students can choose teachers according to their preferences and take upon themselves the part of responsibility for their education.

To choose means to do the intellectual work, which is the result of comparison and conclusion.

The teachers’ personal blogs mean the space where the important and urgent topics and questions are discussed.
For example, you transmitted your anger thoughts to the Internet. May be, at that moment it was important, but the next day you can think in other way, change your opinion, be more tolerant. But now you have opportunity to express yourself and your colleagues, friends and students “listen to” you. So, your students understand that if they also want to have blogs and express their meanings, thought and questions they must have enough skills to use literate language and speech. It is also a kind of teaching.

Blogs also give opportunity to organize discussions concerning professional development with colleagues, to ask and answer the questions. For example, if teacher makes up a special test for specific class or grade and publishes it in his/her own blog thereby other teachers can use it for their classes. Teachers usually make up appropriate tests for appropriate students and if others use them and discuss their efficiency so it is the best guarantee of productivity. And what about the students? They also have enough time to solve the given tests and questions and also express their attitude and meaning concerning the work.
It is important for me as a teacher of native language to have my own translations from other languages, published in my blog.

So we can sum up that teachers’ personal blogs help them in self-education and guide the students.
